Under the Influence!

Some one that I know from the Dorsey convention presented a song this past year and the words to the song is “this Christian journey is filled with pitfalls, but don’t you fret my friends it’s all a part of the call…some may ask a question, how I can still stand, but just let them know I am under the influence of the Lord!” Now when I first heard the song, I thought to myself “under the influence” what is that baby talking about? (Sorry B.H.)!

But these past few weeks have been filled with pitsfalls in almost every area of my life! I will admit this week I have “flipped” a couple of times and expressed how I felt in an inappropriate manner (no need to lie). And on last night when I called out to God, asking him to change some things quickly, because I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it through… I heard Him say that is what B.H. was talking about; you have to stay under the influence of the Lord!

Job 42:10-12

After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the LORD had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.  The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part.

The story of Job is known as a book of encouragement when you are in hard times.  God allowed the enemy to test Job to see whether he would, “stay under the influence”.  Job lost everything that he had, even his wife told him to curse God and die! His friends who were suppose to be there to encourage him, but they did not.  Despite of what he experienced Job refused to stop believing.  And because Job passed the test God blessed him even more! (Catch that… you have to pass the test in order to be BLESSED) The word of God says Twice AS Much! And his latter part of his life was BLESSED MORE!

I hear God saying that if you “stay under the influence” I will bless you twice as Much!

So many people allow themselves to be influenced by others, worldly possessions, issues, sex, alcohol, drugs, relationships, money. But can I tell you what I know? The only thing that can help you in the situation you’re in right now is JESUS! I’m at the point where I just want to be influenced by HIM!  Jude 1:24 says, now which is able to keep you from falling! God will help you to stand through all of your trials, tribulations, temptations…but you must stay under the influence!

As I look over everything that has been going on in my life these past few weeks, I am called upon to be like Job, “though he slay me, yet will I trust HIM! (Job 13:15)  I know what God has promised, I know what God has for my life and I am not going to let anything, anyone, any situation… stop me from TRUSTING GOD!  So on today I am asking God to give me the strength to stay under His Influence.  Will you ask Him to do the same for your life? I encourage you to do it now, before it is too late.

 Let’s Pray!

God we come to you first asking that you forgive us for our actions.  Lord, give us the wisdom to remember that you will fight ALL of our battles for us.  Forgive us Lord on today; give us more of you Lord and Less of us! Take over our lives Jesus; we want to be consumed by nothing else but you! God we thank you for using B.H. to minister these words into our hearts, even when we did not understand.  And God we thank you that you have given us a better understanding of what it means to be under your influence.  Lord we ask that you bless B.H. on today, like the words from this song has blessed us Lord.  We serve the enemy notice on today, that no matter what comes our way, “We are going to Stay Under the Influence of the LORD!” And we affect and enforce God’s original plans and purpose over and against the plans and purpose of Satan.  We decree and declare that no intrinsic or extrinsic weapons formed against us shall prosper.  And we speak God’s influence over our lives.  In Jesus Name we pray, AMEN and Thank God!
