Trusting…

Today, I spent the day at a training called TRUST:  Months to earn, Seconds to Lose.  Although the training was designed to promote trust in the workplace, the information made me think about myself.  How often it is so hard for me to trust whether it is at work, church, or my personal life.  The lack of trust is what causes so much confusion.

Many of us have set up road blocks that make it difficult for us to trust other people.  The inability to trust causes so many problems in relationships.  And just like problems with trust hinder our relationships with people, they also hinder our relationship with God.

So this Friday we will take time to explore why we SHOULD trust God.   Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.   God reminded me of this passage of scripture while meditating on Trust.  The reason many of us cannot trust is because of hurt, pain, or dishonesty that we have experienced from people in our lives.

We put blocks up not allowing people and GOD to enter into our lives because we are so WORRIED about the end result.  But the Lord reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11 that he already has a plan for our life, and those plans will cause us to flourish and not destroy us.    So why is it so hard to put our trust in God? He has already shown us that his plans for our life will not hurt us.  God showed me that so many people who do not trust him, because they do not understand that even the horrible things that have occurred in our lives are meant for our good.

I have a client on my caseload that said, “Ms. Jackson I’m clean and sober right now, but I just cannot work the twelve-step program.”  Of course I asked him why, and he began to talk about how he could not get past  the second step, which is Come to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.  He went on to say, I am definitely cannot do the third step, which is make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. He went on to tell me, all I have been through, Ms. Jackson, you cannot tell me that “God was there for me”.  As he left my office, I could not help but think, “Mr., all that you have been through and you are STILL ALIVE, it could not have been NO ONE ELSE BUT GOD who was there for you!  And that is what God wants you to hear on today.  All that you have been through in your life… all the hurt, the pain, the turmoil, the abuse, the neglect and you are still here today and in your right mind! You ought to begin to TRUST HIM!  He has your back! When I look at my life and the blessing of God that surround me, I sometimes think about where I could have been.  My life is not the norm! There are so many other people who were born out of wedlock and grew up with one real parent, who did not make it.  BUT YOU DID! So when I look around at my situation and sometimes think I should be on a higher level, God reminds me of where I came from and what I could have been.  That right there is enough for me to continue to TRUST HIM! He knows the plans that HE has for my LIFE! So why don’t you trust him? Some of you have placed your trust in the wrong people all your life, but I guarantee you if you just begin to TRUST HIM, the MASTER, he will prove himself trustworthy.  He already has a plan for your life mapped out, and the only way you are going to get to your DESTINY, PROSPERITY is by TRUSTING HIM! And his plans are to give you HOPE and a Future.

So many people are searching for their purpose in life; my answer to you is TRUST HIM! So will you STOP WORRYING about TOMORROW? Will you STOP PANICKING about your future?   Because when you TRUST HIM, you can continue to walk with ease that everything will work out for your good!   SO TRUST HIM!

Let’s Pray!

Father, we first come to ask that you forgive us for our sins, not believing in you, not having faith the size of a mustard seed, for doubting that you could provide.  God we thank you that we can TRUST you.  We thank you that when we cannot put our trust in others, we can ALWAYS place it in you.  We will TRUST YOU!

Lord, thank you for what you have done and are doing in our lives.  Give us the peace that passes all understanding.  Give us the desire to serve you more.  Give us the discipline that we need to live a well balanced life for you God.  God give us the strength to work on our ability to trust others.  Give us the courage to mend relationships and begin to build trust within them.  Lord, we will love and there is nothing we can do without you! It is in your darling Son Jesus’ name that we pray AMEN and THANK GOD!

Do me a favor and take time to pray for me and I will do the same for you!   TRUSTING,

MEJ!
