Stay in the Game!

So many people are excited about the NBA Finals, everywhere you go people are talking about who they believe and /or want to win.  On the evenings when the basketball game is on, 90% of statuses on Facebook and Twitter are dedicated to who is going to win the game.

It always amazes me how people come together over sporting events.  But in the midst of all the talk about the Finals, I hear God’s voice so clear.    Today, someone needs encouragement to stay in the Game!

Psalms 42: 11  Why are you downcast, O my soul?  Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

I encourage you to read Psalms 42 in its entirety.  There are 5 sections in the book of Psalms that each represents the first five books of the Bible.  Chapter 42 begins the second sections of the book of Psalms, which is known as the Exodus!  And I do not know about you, but I get excited when I hear the word Exodus, because it means an escape from a hostile environment by a large group of people. (Yea God).

I do not know about you but I hear God saying that in order for the people of God to go through (here goes the word THROUGH again) their Exodus they have to STAY IN THE GAME!   The significance of chapter 42 is it’s a crying out from a dry place into God’s presence.  The Psalmist David is appealing to God for deliverance from the enemy who is oppressing their soul.  And I hear God saying that many of you are in a DRY place and the enemy is trying to dominate (oppress) your spirit.

But on today, God is commanding you to be like the Psalmist David and cry out to God for deliverance from the enemy.  See the enemy wants you to think that while you are in the game, you just have to go through the motions, until the game is over.  And some of you are just running back and forth on the court, thinking as long as I am in my place before the opposing team gets down to the end of the court I am good.  But I hear God say that you have to put on a FULL COURT PRESS on the enemy. I know some of you who have never played the game are wondering what a full court press is, but God is telling you to Guard your heart and mind from the enemy.  Box him out, block him from scoring, fake him out, do whatever you have to do to keep the enemy from scoring.    I encourage you today to stay in the game.  Remember that God has the ability to rescue you from your dry place, cry out to him! In the end you WIN!

 Let’s Pray

God we come to you today, crying out before you.  Lord we are your people; we are the righteousness of you.   Lord God, your word tells us that the prayers of the righteous avail much, so God we come to you today petitioning that you save us from this Dry Place.  Lord, with your word we come against the enemy.  We serve the enemy notices that through God we can never fail.  We serve the enemy notice today that in the end we will win, and he cannot have our relationships, our families, our jobs, our homes, our faith, or nothing else that God has given to us! Because the favor of God profusely abounds in us! And we are the generation that will experience God’s favor immeasurably, limitless, and surpassing.  God empty us of everything that is not like you and give us more of YOU!  Lord we love you.  And enemy you are defeated because of that love! In Jesus name we pray, AMEN!
