Sparrow vs. You

by Monica E. Jackson

Yesterday, I heard a song that made tears run down my eyes.  Now I have heard the song before, but because of everything that has been going on in my life in the month of May, the song had a new meaning for me.  I sat in my room and cried because I know that everything that I have been experiencing this month was for a reason.  But the song reminded me that, "He Watches Me!"

Matthew 10:29-31

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

The song is "Eye is on the Sparrow" was written in the early 1900s. Still, today it has so much substance and meaning! The lyrics say, "Why should I feel discouraged?  Why should the shadows come? Why should my heart feel lonely and long for heaven and home? When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He!"

(Don’t you feel God right now?) What God wants us to know on today is that there is no reason to feel like everything that is going on is not going to work out for your good. In Matthew the scripture tells us that a sparrow is worrying NOTHING.

A farthing is worth one forth of a penny, it has little value. But despite their small value, God cares about what happens to them. He want even let them fall without Him. (Thank you Lord!)

Do you know how much you are worth? I'm sure it is far more than a farthing. And guess what that means? God pays greater attention to you! He even knows how many hairs you have on your head!

He Watches Me! Can I be honest with you all? God has always made me transparent with those who share with me. One of my cases at work was under investigation for at least five months. I never shared it with anyone, because I knew that I had done nothing wrong. Well long story short, the person in charge was saying that I never helped this person gain their independence through work, but continued to pay for the placement services. No one believed that the client was working despite the client’s reports that he was. I had so much trouble verifying his employment. I was in my office yesterday and I said, "God what is going on?" As I continued to look through the case, I noticed that the SSNs were different from the label on the file. I went to verify the employment with the number in the file. IT CAME UP! It showed the client has been employed way over 90 days... 9 months to be exact!  Thank you God!

I will admit because of all I have been through— the stress, feeling like people don't trust you, etc. But as I sat in my bed and that song came on television, God said, “I was watching you through it all!"

And when people spend time trying to destroy your creditability, run your name in the ground, question your work performance, your values, your ethics and morals... When life hands you bad apples or doors are closed in your face and you feel like there is no way out! Just remember that HE WATCHES YOU!

"Let not your heart be troubled, his tender word I hear. And resting on his goodness, I lose my doubts and fears. Though by path he leadeth me but one step I may see. Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise, when song give place to singing, when hope within me dies. I DRAW CLOSER TO HIM! FROM CARES HE SETS ME FREE! His eye is on the sparrow, and I know HE watches ME!"

Let's pray!

God you are so awesome!  You are better to us than we are to ourselves.  You sit high, but you look low. And you continue to be our protection in this world. You watch us when people try and set up traps against us. You...God stand guard from the enemy. When people try to discredit us, talk against us, it is you that stop their mouths from talking. Thank you for being our Shepherd. Forgive us for stressing in chaotic situations. God all we can do is thank you for watching over us. When we are doing right you watch over us and even when we are out doing wrong you see fit to protect us.  Give us a mindset of change and allow us to apply it to our lives. God we want to live Holy and acceptable lives for you.

Thank you for being God in our lives and just take control right now. We praise you.  We love you.  And we bless your name. In Jesus name we pray! Amen!
