Prayer Still Works!

These past few weeks God has revealed to me that I need to work on my prayer life.  We often get routine in our daily life that prayer and spending time with God can become a part of the list, and when we are done we check it off and move to the next task.  But I believe that God wants more from us at it relates to prayer!

Today that is exactly what God wants from us to be faithful in our prayer.

Romans 12:12 (The Message Bible) says: Cheerfully expectant.  Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder   The scripture tells us that we should be hopeful for what is going to happen, patient in hard time, and prayer more! God showed me that within these three things, we often miss one.  So many of us are hopeful as it relates to what God has in store for us.  Moreover, we know how to keep going during hard times in our life.  But, many of us fail to be faithful in our prayer life.  I know that I am guilty of this and sometimes I find myself praying out of routine and not because I genuinely want to talk to God.  Many of us as adults are still stuck on ‘Now I lay me down to sleep” or “God is good God is great”.  And I am not saying that anything is wrong with those prayers.  But is anyone other than me looking to have a deeper relationship with God.  Anyone else tired of the enemy and wants to defeat him! Well James 5:16 says that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.   So on this Friday, before you go to bed, I encourage you to spend time in prayer with God. Prayer is both powerful and effective! I believe that there are some people who may be depressed, discouraged, grieved, hurt, confused… but I hear God say that if you pray all that you are feeling will change things around!   There is a song that says… “Prayer still Works”.  And I want you to know this evening that your prayers can still change your situation around.  So many people have gotten away from prayer.  We worry, try to fix things ourself… but what Romans 12:12 shows that we should pray even harder when we experience “rough times”.    I do not know what you are dealing with on today.  But the answer that I have for you today is pray about it.  We HATE (yea I know it’s a strong word) when people tell us to “pray about it”.  However, this is the best advise anyone can give to you… because Prayer works!   Let’s Pray!   God , we come to you with Thanksgiving on our lips.  Lord thank you for loving us when we cannot love ourselves.  We ask that you forgive us from our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  Lord give us the mind to pray without ceasing.  To pray during good times and pray even harder in rough times.  Lord we trust you.  Your word says that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful, so Lord we ask that you deem us righteous on today.   Lord on today we intercede for the lost, depressed, suicidal, and confused. We pray that you will give them hope for the future and teach them how to patiently wait and pray! God we love you! We seal this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Praying,

MEJ!
