Giving yourself away!

This morning as I was getting ready for work, God placed a song in my spirit that I have yet to let go of this morning.  The song is by William McDowell and called “I Give Myself Away!” If you have never heard the song, I encourage you to find it! This is yet another anointed song that will make you forget about everything that is going wrong in your life.  I understand that there are people who are experiencing many challenges in their life.  While talking to several people this week, I realize that the last couple of weeks have been filled with trials and tribulations.  Some people are refusing to let go while others are just barely holding on.

At a young age, I learned that we should give all our problems to Jesus and leave them there. “Just give them to God!” is what we often hear from people when we are discussing our problems that we are experiencing.  Although we are told this, it is difficult for us to do.  God showed me that there are people who share in this meditation who find it hard to give what they are experiencing to Jesus.  You give it to Him, but you yourself cannot let go of it.  You worry about, you cry about it… Moreover, God fixes the problem and you find yourself right back in the same mess.  WHY? Because the problem is not the problem (HUH?), you are! So while you are trying to give the problem to Jesus, you need to be giving the root of the problem to him.

So on this Friday, ask yourself what will happen if I just give myself away to God?

James 4:7 & 10

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Some of you are saying, why can’t I ever get my finances together, I gave my debt to Jesus to fix.  Well did you give the shopaholic in you to Jesus, because the debt would not be there if you did not have problems with spending?

I can’t lose weight for nothing; I gave my diet to Jesus.  Well did you give yourself to God, because you’re the one that overeats?

My co worker gets on my nerves; I gave the situation to God.  Well did you give yourself to God, because maybe it is you?

My husband or my kids just will not change, I gave them to God.  Well did you give yourself to God, because maybe the problem is really your expectations for people? Maybe you are the problem?

I do not know what is going on in your life today.  I do not know what situation has you barely holding on, but what I do know is when you give yourself away to God and not just the situation, you allow God to work on the root of the problem.

So what will happen if we just give ourselves away to God on today?  Well the scripture tells us that if we SUBMIT to God, resist your temptation, and the enemy will flee!

 Let’s pray!

Lord God, we come before you today asking that you would forgive us for the sins that we have committed on this week.  Cleanse our hearts and make us new in your sight.  Lord, today, we give ourselves to you! Because we realize that our biggest problem is ourselves.  We are the ones that caused the debt; our attitudes are the ones that have messed up relationships. Our pride is what is stopping us from forgiving, and our expectation of others is the problem.  But God on today we give everything that is not like you in us and submit it you! We give ourselves away to you on today God, all of us! We surrender on today God, because we know that you have placed us here for PURPOSE!  Lord, give us the wisdom to realize that it is us that need to be changed!  We cast down every vain imagination and every high thing that lifts itself against the knowledge of Jesus Christ! We come against every yoke that has us bound and speak God’s anointing over everything that is in us not like Christ.  We take captive every thought and make it obedient to God on today! Lord we give ourselves away to you, so that you can use us! In Jesus name we pray AMEN!

 Giving myself away,

MEJ
