This week I found myself thinking about one of my Bishop’s messages and he talked about how small decisions create big change. The scripture that he used was 1 Corinthians 9:27. This scripture has blessed me so much, every time I thought about doing something or saying something outside of the will of God I recalled the scripture. One day as I saying the scripture to myself, I heard the voice of God. God said, “the worst thing you can be is ANOINTED but DISQUALIFIED”. As I spent time with God this week asking him what will he use me to say to the people of God on this Friday, I could not stop thinking about ANOINTED but DISQUALIFIED. `
On this Friday, spend time with God. And meditate on am I disqualified?
1 Corinthians 9:27
I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Isn’t that a GREAT word! The word of God will make the enemy FLEE, so you may need to read that out loud again!
God has shown me that there are so many people in the body of Christ that he has anointed, but through their DAILY actions they are DISQUALIFIED. But Paul said to the church at Corinth that I have to struggle to gain control over my flesh (beat my body and make it my slave). Paul is letting us know that dying daily is not an easy task, but you have to gain control over your flesh. Gain control over your actions, your mouth, and your thoughts! Someone today is preparing to do something this weekend that is outside the will of God for your life. And I hear God saying to you, Gain CONTROL! Anointed but Disqualified!
The apostle Paul has also shown us that it does not matter what you say or do for Christ, if you do not have control over your OWN flesh….You too can be disqualified. So what if God has anointed your VOICE to sing! So what if he has anointed your HANDS to play an instrument! So what if he has anointed you to PREACH the Gospel! So what if he has anointed you with a SMILE to greet the people! So what if he has anointed you with a MOUTH to pray for the people! So What! As the apostle Paul said… so that after I have preached! (Let’s personalize it) so that after I have SUNG, so that after I have PRAYED, so that after I have PLAYED, so that after I have GREETED… I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. ME! Monica… I will not be DISQUALIFIED. I hear God saying, your ANOINTING IS NOT ENOUGH! GAIN CONTROL! Yea you! Who cares how many people you brought to Christ through my anointing… because if YOU don’t get your FLESH together you will be DISQUALIFIED! Who cares if your voice ushered the people into worship… you too can be DISQUALIFIED if you don’t gain control.
Some people think they have it under control! But if you are preaching and fornicating you better GAIN control. If you are singing and cursing people out you better GAIN control. If you are greeting but have hate on the inside of you for someone, you better GAIN control.
Every morning when I sit at my desk at work, I look at my sticky note and say… “I BEAT MY BODY AND MAKE IT MY SLAVE SO THAT AFTER I HAVE PREACHED TO OTHERS, I MYSELF WILL NOT BE DISQUALIFIED FOR THE PRIZE!” The truth is family, that everyone who stands before you will not make it into the gate! But the question to you on today is will you continue to allow your actions to disqualify you? Dying to your flesh everyday needs to become a custom ritual!
Have you DIED today? Well I encourage you to do so today. Someone is probably thinking, well how do I die? Well you can start by saying 1 Corinthians 9:27. Tell God on today give me More of you God and Less of myself! Let him know that with less of yourself you can accomplish so much more!
God we come before you today asking that you cleanse our hearts. Forgive us for the sins that we have committed, our thoughts and our actions. Forgive us for how we treat people. Lord we ask right now that you give us more of you and less of ourselves on today. God we confess that we cannot do it without you. Everything that we have planned to accomplish on today we give it to you, that we may complete it. We come against the enemy on today and let him know that he is ALREADY defeated. Lord WE LOVE! We need you more each and every day. God we bless your name. You are worthy of all of the praise! It is in your name that we pray, Jesus! Amen!
Family, continue to pray for me as I pray for you!
