I remember a little over 3 years ago, when I relocated to Houston, TX for my new job. I had just finished graduate school and I was so excited about my job in my career field. I loved my job! It was my motivation for getting up in the morning. It was everything that I wanted it to be! I was so motivated on my job, that I put my best foot forward every day. So motivated that within 2 ½ years on the job, I went from a Counselor I to a Counselor III. I am not bragging, but to illustrate my point let me tell you this… there are counselors who have been here for double my time and maybe even triple that are not Counselor IIIs yet. I was reminded this yesterday, talking to my significant other and best friend. He recently started a new job and he loves it! As we sat eating dinner last night and talking about work, he said, “I love it so much I cannot wait to get their everyday!” Sitting at dinner, I had a flashback to when I first begun my job. These past few months, I have lost the joy that I once had on the job.
On my way to work this morning, I began to pray for my job, my coworkers; I called their names out in prayer. The ones I like and even the ones that I don’t particular care for, God placed it on my heart to pray for each and every one of them. As I was praying I heard God say that “I am getting ready to change the Atmosphere”.
And I believe that on this Friday, God wants someone to know that “He is getting ready to change the ATMOSPHERE!”
Galatians 6:14-17 (NLT)
As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God. From now on, don’t let anyone trouble me with these things. For I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus.
The Message Bible says in verse 14: Because of that Cross, I have been crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling atmosphere of pleasing others and fitting into the little patterns that they dictate.
We thank God for his revelation on today! I hear God saying that it doesn’t matter what they think of you, it doesn’t matter what they say about you, it doesn’t matter about the mess people try to start; it DOESN’T matter. Why? Because you are a CHILD OF THE KING, all because of the CROSS!
These are Paul’s last words to the church of Galatia. The Galatians were initially worshippers of pagan God’s. Many of them converted to the teaching of Christ, but after Paul left the church they were led astray to another form of religion. This religion began a personal attack on the Paul and his teachings. Paul then wrote this letter to the church after finding out about their change.
Paul tells them in Verse 14 that it is not because of anything but the Cross that my interest in the world, my atmosphere of pleasing others, and trying to fit in has CHANGED! In other words, I don’t CARE what you think about me, because of the cross God has changed my ATMOSPHERE! And I don’t have don’t have to fit into your pattern of life. God showed me this morning, STOP worrying about what people are doing or trying to do! Stop worrying about the rules that people are trying to change. All that matters in your world is that I have transformed you in to a new creation!
Paul ends his letter to the church of Galatia by saying, “Don’t let anyone trouble me with these things, because I bear on my body the scars that I belong to Jesus Christ!” I hear God saying stop letting people trouble you with the mess that is going on around you, just continue to remember that you belong to Christ. Look at the scars you have because you are a believer, the pain you have gone through because you are a believer! And let those scares remind you that the only thing that matters is GOD!
It is through that revelation that GOD will change your ATMOSPHERE!
God we come to you today humbled to be in your presence. In your presence there is liberty, strength, salvation and we thank you for that on today. Lord we ask that you forgive us for our sins. Forgive us for our actions against others, forgive for our vindictive ways and nature. God keep us in your presence, because it is in your presence that your light shines through us! God we pray for those who have set up attacks against us. We pray right now for those who stab us in the back. We pray for those who don’t like us and plot against. Give them the heart of Christ on today. Give them the mind of Christ today. Save them on today! God we thank you! We Love you! Thank you for dying on the cross for us and changing our atmosphere Lord! You are great and worthy of all praise. We seal this prayer with your blood! Amen!
A New Atmosphere,
